studio updates: fall 2025
narrated by Tom Robbins
Currently reading / listening to via Libby (hell yeah libraries!) Fierce Invalids Home from Hot Climates by Tom Robbins (RIP), who I love but had sort of forgotten about my love of until a recent conversation with a friend about him. This is my first time listening to a Robbins book, and it is read by Keith Szarabajka who I think is doing an excellent job, and for which he won the 2001 Audie Award for Best Fiction. The voice of an audiobook is extremely make-it-or-break-it for me - perhaps you too? He has sort of an odd but very fitting voice for the book. Robbins’ totally fun, surreal and verbose world is hilarious and strange and I feel slightly guiltily happy whenever I delve into any of his works. Okay, anyway. If you haven’t explored him, I insist.

Excited to be included in the 2025 Bemis Center 2025 Art Auction! The exhibition is now up - stop by if you are in Omaha. The bidding will be open soon, or you can “buy it now”. Find the artworks online here. I have two pieces available!
The auction party is on Friday October 24th - grab a ticket. See ya there?

I acquired a tiny printmaking press for my studio recently! I’m super excited to finally play with making more prints and learning as I go, as with most things in life. ✨ Here’s one of the first prints I’ve made!
I got shortlisted for the OD Photo Prize with my work wildfire sun! There will be an exhibition in London in November and an online print sale. Stay tuned.
Made my annual trip to photograph at Maypop Flower Farm!! Molly’s incredible dahlias are in full bloom right now and it was such a sensual delight to play with arranging them and capturing them at various times of day.
She and her friend Macy also concocted an incredible farm to table dinner with fresh locally grown veggies, fruit, venison, sourdough and persimmon ice cream. Heaven.

If you’re in San Francisco you can find my work this weekend at the San Francisco Photo Book Fair at the Harvey Milk Photo Center. My zine and a poster will be there with my friends Leah and Justin of Deep Time Press!
Other things I’m enjoying lately:
Zyrtec D
slowly devouring Ninth Street Women
date bars with dark chocolate + flaky sea salt - my favorite homemade treat
got birds tattooed on my legs and am psyched about them
asking for what you want and then being surprised when people respond “yes”
diving into Edward Weston via Charis Wilson a la Through Another Lens
blush pink big bud press jumpsuit (from poshmark) - very obsessed
peppermint & chamomile tea with a tiny dash of honey before bed!!
Hope your autumn is filled with comfort and love. 💋 Free Palestine, Fuck ICE, peace on earth <3
hugs,
Mad
